Job Description:

You will be required to assist in all aspects of the accounts and finance administration processes which may at times extend beyond the duties listed below.

Managing the day-to-day accounting functions, including accounts payable and receivable, bank reconciliations and maintaining accurate financial records using Xero to support the smooth operation of the business.

This will require you to process supplier invoices, issue customer invoices, reconcile accounts and follow up outstanding payments while liaising with suppliers, subcontractors and internal stakeholders as required. You will also assist with payroll support and compliance reporting, ensuring accuracy and timeliness at all times.

Other responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Processing accounts payable and receivable in Xero.
  • Issuing customer invoices and progress claims.
  • Following up outstanding debtors and managing collections.
  • Performing daily and monthly bank reconciliations.
  • Reconciling supplier statements and resolving discrepancies.
  • Assisting with payroll processing and maintaining employee records.
  • Preparing BAS information for review by management or external accountants.
  • Maintaining accurate financial records and supporting month-end reporting.
  • Assisting with job costing and project tracking where required.
  • General accounts and finance administration support.

You will be provided with training on internal systems and processes and you will be responsible for prioritising your daily workload to meet deadlines.

Requirements:

  • A higher education degree in Accounting, Finance or Business is preferred.
  • 2–3 years experience in an Accounts Officer or similar role within an Australian accounting or finance environment.
  • Proven experience using Xero is essential.
  • Experience within the construction, roofing, cladding or trade industry will be highly regarded.
  • Sound understanding of accounts payable, accounts receivable and reconciliations.
  • BAS and GST knowledge is an advantage.
  • Honesty, reliability, and a strong work ethic are essential.
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills are required.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written) are required, with the ability to liaise professionally with suppliers, subcontractors and internal stakeholders daily.
